The history of kickboxing in Poland dates back to the Eighties . The pioneer of this discipline was the coach of many later champions Andrzej Palacz – presently the chairman of the Polish Kickboxing Association. The first Polish Championships took place in 1985 when the present DSF Sport Director Piotr Siegoczyński won. What is more, he went for the World Championships in Budapest the same year, and was the first Pole to win the Gold for Poland there. Thanks to that, journalists and fans in Poland could learn about a new sport discipline. The 90s was the time of very dynamic kickboxing development during which Polish players won on many contests in Europe and in the world. Polish history of this sport can number out several players who were successful not only in the country, but also abroad: Piotr Siegoczyński, Agnieszka Rylik, Przemysław Saleta or the martial arts legend, nine times World Champion Marek Piotrowski.
